Whenever I see it down here, I expect to hear about another 100-car pileup on I-5. On the other hand, it can also be magical (just like the marine layer). I have very fond memories of driving down the Delta on 1996 cricket world cup 160 with my girlfriend and (then) 1996 cricket world cup 12-year-old son, listening to Seamus Heaney reading his translation of Beowulf...while a light fog made the flat empty landscape seem just like the fens in old Denmark...
