For Christians, this is particularly true with respect to sexaul harassment Old Testament law such as Leviticus. I don't think that liberals are any sexaul harassment worse on this score than conservatives who try to reconcile their Christianity with a belief in the market economy, or even meritocracy and the work ethic. The New Testament runs counter even to a commonsense view of incentives and tit-for-tat. Posted by: Paul Callahan | Dec 21, 2004 5:26:27 PM This is a valid criticism, but it applies to more than just liberal Christians. Virtually every religion centering on the Bible tends to highlight some parts and sexaul harassment ignore or make excuses for other parts. For Christians, this is particularly true with respect to Old Testament law such as Leviticus. Yes, conservative Christians do it too, though perhaps not so egregiously as liberal ones. The Old Testament is largely a catalog of atrocities perpetrated, ordered or condoned by God, but I agree with those who argue that the single most harmful Christian doctrine of all is the doctrine of hell, because it provides such an easy rationalization for mistreating people.
