But we can say unequivocally that it’s doing a 100% better job of representing black current affairs people than the previous government did, simply by virtue of doing anything at all. Do you current affairs think it’s crooked? Well, to whatever extent it is, it begins to resemble modern developed countries like the US and Europe. If you don’t want that, again – pitch in. Do something. We have current affairs a slowly disappearing chance in SA to fashion government that works. You’re welcome to be part of that, at any level. Do you have to like it? No. But in order to dislike it, you have to understand what it is. Disliking it on the grounds that it no longer does what the other did puts you in dangerous company and may require you to admit some things you’d perhaps not want to. I think the all the same holds for many people on this forum. They’ve been discovering, slowly and by degrees, that their country is not what they thought. I hope they find the courage to do, in their country, what needs to be done, and I hope they get all the help they can handle doing it. |
