| Think about this for a moment, in one of the worst disasters to ever 1993 happen to America in its history no aid can be volunteered by anyone outside of the federal government no matter how needed/essential because the proper paperwork must be filled out. So not only was there no pre-positioning of resources, unlike last year in Florida for much less 1993 severe storms than this, there was a clear lack of effort placed into 1993 managing this disaster for the first 4 days afterwards in the worst impacted location, NO. That despite the clear evidence of desperate and dire needs not being met private sector efforts were refused. Private citizens efforts were refused. We all watched as NO became worse and worse, and despite hearing the federal government say the cavalry was on the way the reality was obviously the opposite. Yet the agency tasked with primary responsibility for the most efficient and speedy deployment of the needed resources TO SAVE LIVES OF AMERICAN CITIZENS, the agency that had publicly declared Aug 27 a good 36 hrs prior to Katrina making landfall they had the authority to do everything possible, they did NOTHING at all commensurate with the devastation this storm left, and they refused all offers of assistance despite the clear need for it being shown throughout America and the world. |
