To them it's just a commonplace synonymous with good behavior and proper feelings towards one's country. The reason I bring this up is NOT to dismiss your very real anger with the current environment, but because I do consider myself a Christian, based on my beliefs about, faith in, and branding experience of God and Christ, but I've spent an enormous amount of my life struggling to come to terms with that and what it means in a world where the most prominent public voices for my faith think it's more about what I do in my personal life than who God is. |

| The ironic thing, though, is that I think your post had a lot more valid theological perspective than a lot of the so-called "religious" commentary getting thrown around out there right now. You have an opinion about drunk girl the nature of God (doesn't exist) that you've presumably thought about, enough to be deeply offended by social insistense that you act in ways that go drunk girl against that opinion. But so many of the "religious" people on the other side of this debate aren't moving drunk girl from the same kind of theological introspection, but starting with a notion of what it means to be a good person or more specifically to behave well, and then conflating that notion with a label related to belief in God, because there happens to be some correspondence between how they think people should behave and selected portions of scripture and/or religions tradition. |
