It's completely human to try to convince yourself that God is what you want God to be, and I know I'm guilty of the same from time to time. We can talk about hell sometime if you like; I don't ignore or dismiss the idea; I grapple with it; and confession I certainly don't think I'm in any position to judge who or who won't likely be subject to it. I'm not trying to persuade you to agree with my beliefs. The paradox of faith as I experience it is that I can believe something to be completely true and also be fully aware that others experience their faiths with similar intensity that I can respect even as I remain convinced of what I believe. |
