The governor is sure 2005 comedy

Unless something very shocking happens, the law is almost 2005 certain to be upheld, as Kennedy has consistently voted to uphold PBA bans, even if they didn’t have health exceptions. 13 randomliberal Feb 23rd, 2006 at 12:09 am Hmm…my first comment is being moderated, so my second comment may not make a lot of sense yet… [feel free to delete this once my first comment emerges from the ether] 14 Christopher Feb 23rd, 2006 at 12:48 am What the hell? How does something so nakedly misogynistic even make it to the legislator? I mean, it says that the proccess of birth is more important the the life of either participant. How the hell does that make sense? 15 PseudoAdrienne Feb 23rd, 2006 at 1:30 am South Dakota = the Gilead. Talk about a legislative orgy of misogyny.

The governor is sure to sign it. As much as I hate this fucking bill, I have to agree with Stephen. As I said over on Feministe, this is not the bill comedy to worry about (yet). Much more worrisome is SCOTUS granting cert to Gonzales v. Carhart, the case challeging the federal Women Suck Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. O’Conner comedy was the 5th and deciding comedy vote in the case which overturned the Nebraska PBA Ban Act in 2000, and Kennedy voted in the minority. So that one is looking very bad for pro-choicers. And all women, for that matter. 12 randomliberal Feb 23rd, 2006 at 12:08 am LWF, Stenberg v. Carhart was the “partial-birth abortion” case from Nebraska I just referenced. The South Dakota bill goes much farther, and Kennedy (the new swing, unfortunately) would have to reverse his own vote in Planned Parenthood v.
