| I was hoping like heck for a regular birthing room. My doc came and checked on me around midnight. They were having difficulty finding the baby's heart rate and inserted and internal monitor. Fucking painful AND it fell out soon after. I was only dilated 4 cm as momby well. momby At this point I asked for an epidural. I was in so much pain and not even half way dilated. Who knew how much longer it could take? My doula said it could sometimes take less than an hour to get to 10 cm. Mark kept checking my blood sugars every hour, I would sip some water. Mark and Carey had some snacks. The smell of yogurt made me homicidal. I found the most relief from the pain by sitting on an old orange, metal-framed hospital chair and leaning into pillows on the bed. I had brought a pillow from home with a pillowcase on it from my childhood that actually really helped me. |
